Maoyan mildewed tea

“Maoyan” is the name of a river in Zhangjiajie which is a branch of Lishui River running through the whole Zhangjiajie City. It got the name of “Maoyan” because there are plenty of grasslands and stones alongside the river, with “mao” meaning grass and “yan” meaning stones in Chinese.
Strictly speaking, Maoyan mildewed tea is not a tea but a drink made from a wild vines plant, and it is not really mildewed. The plant was pick with its leaves on it, and its juice remain in leaves and stems after processing and fermentation would turn white after sun-burning, which seems like mold (actually this is a kind of protease which has rich nutrition).
The plant grows in red sandstone in dense forests along Maoyan River, so the tea is called “Maoyan mildewed tea”.
