Recommended scenic spots in Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon

Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Scenic Spot is located in Sanguansi Township, Cili County, Zhangjiajie, adjacent to the world natural heritage Wulingyuan. It integrates steep mountains and valleys, strange caves, springs and lakes. It enjoys a reputation of “Museum of Zhangjiajie landform”, which is an innovative tourism product to develop all-for-one tourism of the city, with a planning area of 15 square kilometers. It was rated as the national 4A scenic spot in 2011 and is a provincial well-known tourist attraction.

1. Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge

Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge connects two cliffs of the valley in the scenic spot. It is 430 meters long, and 300 meters from the bottom of the canyon, which is the world’s highest pedestrian bridge. And the bridge floor is paved with transparent glasses. This bridge enables people to get a bird’s-eye view of rocks, brushes, and stream at the bottom of the valley and experience extreme sports. Due to its innovative construction methods, it won the 2016-2017 National Quality Project Award, Haydn Arthur Award, and the “Nobel Prize” in bridge industry at the 35th World Bridge Congress in June 2018.

2. Bungee Jumping from the Glass Bridge (not opened yet)

The bungee jumping project is 260 meters from the bottom of the valley, and was opened in 2019. The project is independently operated by Bungy China team, and the team members are mainly from Australia, Canada, UK and Russia. It is one of the world’s few international bungee jumping teams that can jump from more than 200 meters high. Its head office has eight bungee jumping spots across the world. Over the past ten years, 100,000 tourists have experienced this exciting sport.


3. High Zip line

The high zipline project was built by Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Tourism Development Company. There are six sets of 12 reciprocating high zip line, with a total length of 358 meters and a height difference of 302 meters. It can allow 6 people to experience the project at the same time. The scenic spot can receive 2,000 to 2,500. 4.Tianhe Waterfall

The waterfall seems to burst out from the cliffs of the mountain, without knowing the water source. With large quantity of water and large drop height, the water falls into the Shenquan Stream and forms air flow and water mist, letting you feel the coolness at the front of the waterfall.


5. Shenquan Stream

Shenquan Stream is located at a height of nearly 400 meters, but its surrounding rivers where boats can travel are all below 150 meters above seal level, more than 200 meters lower than the outlet of Shenquan Stream.


6. Colorful Lake

The Colorful Lake is the first lake in the canyon. The mountains are reflected in the lake, presenting a quiet and beautiful scenery. Walking along the lake, we can enjoy the beautiful scenery surrounding the lake. The lake was named after different colors of leaves reflecting on the lake in autumn.  
7. Bandit Cave

Bandit Cave is a huge karst cave, which is one of the garrison sites of some bandits in the old days. The overhanging and deep cave is an ideal military place easy to defend and difficult to attack. There are also defense structures such as salt refining platform and shooting hole in the cave.


8. Shenquan Lake

Shenquan Lake in the canyon is a poetic place, with a total area of 13.33 hectares. The lake is just like a mirror reflecting the surrounding scenery. The lake water mainly comes from streams, groundwater and rainwater. There are various freshwater fishes in the lake. And a large green bamboo wood is reflected in the water, making people feel refreshed.
